I laced up my shoes this morning to do a short run and found everything covered once again (like it is so often in October/November) in a beautiful, gauzy mist, slightly heavier than usual. So I ended up taking a leisurely photographic walk up the road as the sun came up–and finished with a super quick run once the fog began to burn off.
Here are a few I took with the black and white app MPro and, unusually, shot into the sun coming through the fog. These are “straight out of the box” so to speak–with no editing (no filters–other than shooting in the black and white of MPro–and no adjustments). I love the drama of morning sun in fog and also the softness of MPro’s black and white, especially when combined with fog.

Woke up to a beautiful fog with rain drops slowly swelling worlds and falling from trees.

I was on my way to the library when I just had to stop and take a few shots of the beautiful fog in the cemetery nearby. Sometimes fog softens the background and we see our pain and desires simply, starkly.

Beautiful drive on the Blue Ridge Parkway today. In and out of the fog, sometimes so dense you could barely see the trees. But here and there a pocket opened up and I could get a shot or two in with my iPhone. I’m a sucker for both fog (as some of you know) and the brilliant colors of fall leaves.

I take a lot of photos with my iPhone. That’s why I have 64 GB storage. I don’t like to let very many of them go. Recently I’ve been in a landscapes mood. I’ve been scrolling through my camera roll, my fingers itching to play with expanses of nature. So I played and edited three old photos along with a new photo I took last week (“lone pole,” the last one below). Sometimes a photo I dismiss in the moment turns out, six months later, to be exactly what I wanted.

There was a beautiful fog when I stepped outside work today. I love fog (see here and here). I will stop on the side of the road if needed in order to get a shot. Fortunately, I didn’t have to do that today.* The field behind the Y–right across the street–was beckoning with oh-so-many possibilities.
I shot in black and white with MPro, but when I came home I couldn’t resist playing around. I’m searching for a formula for a certain type of sepia and I haven’t found it yet. I’ll be patient. I’ve only recently started mixing different filters from different apps to find the perfect one. Today I played with the photos in Snapseed and Stackables apps. I didn’t get it today, but I definitely had fun trying. The collage was made with Moldiv.
*Does stopping by the library to get a picture of the water tower count?
